Do not say
It won't happen to me
Over 100 Children and teenagers are dying in accidents each year and leave their families with an open wound that will never heal. Most of the accidents can be prevented by embracing safety habits as part of our lifestyle and by creating a safe environment

Drowning Prevention
  • Do not leave a child unattended around water - not even for a moment!
  • Make sure that baths, buckets and inflatable pools are emptied immediately after use
  • Do not enter the sea if there are no active rescue services
  • Make sure any private pool at home or in the Guesthouse has a fence and install an automatic gate lock.
  • Water wings are recommended for use, but are not a substitute for supervision
  • In the vicinity of water, an adult must supervise the children continuously, within touching distance and avoid distractions
  • It is recommended to give swimming lessons from age 4, depending on the child's personal capability

Youth safety
  • Teenagers are the second most common risk group for injury
  • The reason for this is a tendency towards risk behavior
  • Parental involvement and open dialogue reduce risks for adolescents
  • Speak to the youth at eye level, without scaring or intimidating
  • A personal example and safety guidelines contribute to safer behavior in adolescents

Safe vacation
  • Adjust the holiday destination to all members of the family, depending on the children's age and capabilities
  • Decide between you who will stay with the children so they will be attended at all times: one parent can rest while the other is watching
  • Do not go on a family vacation before making sure that the pool is fenced and the gate has an automatic lock
  • Adjust the hotel or bed room for children and remove any hazards
  • Lock the room to prevent unattended children from leaving
  • If you intend to rent a car, make sure to take a suitable safety seat with you
Beky Maoz, Roy mother
Falls Prevention
  • Install bars for the house windows or accessories to limit the opening of windows
  • Remove furniture that can be used to climb towards window ledges such as beds and dressers
  • Install a standard rail on each side of the stairs, and gates at the top and bottom of the stairs
  • Playing in balconies and roofs - under adult supervision only
  • Do not leave a baby alone on a high piece of furniture such as a changing table, sofa or master bed
  • In a dining chair, in a stroller and on a trampoline, the baby should always be secured

Kids in the car
  • For every distance and every vehicle, each child must sit in a suitable safety seat
  • Babies and toddlers should be seated in a designated seat against the direction of travel until at least two years of age
  • Make sure that the safety seat is properly anchored to the vehicle
  • It is recommended not to seat a child in the front seat before the age of 13
  • According to law, no safety seat of any type should be placed in front of an active airbag
